IMEI Number The IMEI number is the serial number unique to your phone. You will find it on the label inside your phone (it's the long one that looks a bit like a credit card number with extra /s), but to avoid taking your phone apart, simply key in the following code and it will be displayed on the screen: *#06# This information can be especially useful if you need to find out if your phone is in warranty before you send in for repair - a phone warranty only lasts 12 months from the date of purchase. Each phone may have a different version of software, depending on when it was manufactured. Newer versions may have additional features or may solve "bugs" in previous versions. To find out what software version is on your Nokia mobile, simply key in the following code and it will be displayed on the screen: *#0000# If you are unsure of the model number of your phone, you will find a lot of useful information on the IMEI label inside your phone (usually underneath the battery). The model number is written on the top right hand of the label. The model type is also given there - for example type NPL-1 is a Nokia 6310i. The phone can also be identified by the product code on the IMEI label - it is the 7-digit number that starts with 050 - - - -. To be able to access your voicemail from a landline, simply dial your mobile number with one extra digit in the middle. So if your mobile number is 086 1234567, dial 086 5 1234567 and you will hear your greeting message. Interrupt it by pressing # and you will be asked for your four-digit code. This is set automatically as 0000, unless you have changed it yourself (we strongly recommend you do as soon as you get your phone, or anyone can have access to your voicemail messages). Enter your four-digit code and press # again, and you will find yourself in your voicemail menu, just as if you rang 171 from your mobile.
If you forget your voicemail password, dial 173 from your mobile and it will prompt you to enter a new one. Note that this will only work if you are in Ireland. To remove caller Line ID for one call only, press #31# and then dial the number as normal. Your number won't be displayed on your callers phone. The next call you make will again show your caller details (unless of course you enter the code again!) If you enter the wrong PIN code three times, it will block your phone for you. If this happens you will need to enter your eight-digit PUK code (the unblocking code). If you kept the sheet of paper that came attached to your SIM card originally, it is shown at the bottom of this. If not, never fear - just ring your mobile network's customer care (with a pen handy) and they will give you your PUK code. Enter it into your phone, and you will be asked for a new four-digit code, which you will be asked to re-enter a second time to confirm it. This can be your existing 4-digit PIN code, or you can choose another one you might find easier to remember. Either way, once you enter it you will now be able to use your phone as normal. |
